Privacy
Rolling Edition has no accounts, no ads and no paywall. We count visits to learn which books help readers. Here is what we collect, why, and how to turn it off.
What we count
We use Google Analytics on rollingedition.com and on the pages for people on rollingedition.ai. For each page you view, it records the page, the page you came from, your browser and device type, and your approximate location: your country and city, which Google works out from your IP address. Google Analytics doesn't store IP addresses.
We use it to see which books and chapters people read, and how they find them, so we know what to write and fix next. Google's advertising features and Google signals are off, and we don't sell the data.
The copies for assistants on rollingedition.ai, such as Markdown files and llms.txt, run no scripts, so Google Analytics doesn't count them.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets two cookies, _ga and one that starts with _ga_, to recognize a browser that comes back. They last up to 13 months.
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, no cookie is set until you accept. A banner asks on your first visit. Until you accept, Google Analytics counts each visit without cookies, so a return visit counts as a new one.
Turning it off
Visits from this browser are counted.
Visits from this browser aren't counted.
Your choice is kept in this browser, for this site. rollingedition.ai keeps its own, at the foot of its pages. A content blocker that blocks Google Analytics works too.
What else we keep
- Your theme and your analytics choice are kept in your browser and never sent to us.
- When you check a copy, the code you enter goes to our server, which runs on Google Cloud. Google Cloud logs each request, with its IP address, for 30 days.
- Our fonts come from Google Fonts, so Google's servers see your IP address when your browser fetches them.
- If you email us, we keep your message so we can reply.
- When you contribute on GitHub, GitHub's privacy statement applies to your account and your contributions.
